NIRCURING
New method of near-infrared light photopolymerization
Project description
This project involves the development of new formulations to polymerize epoxy and acrylate resins under the action of near infrared light.
Near infrared radiation is less dangerous and penetrates deeper, allowing thicker (several centimetres) and loaded materials to be polymerized.
This new technology addresses many markets such as the automotive industry, electronics and coatings.
Why does Conectus invest in this project?
The maturation project will optimize the formulations according to the expected final properties of the material, the ease of implementation and the cost of the solution.
A formulation and its photopolymerization process will also be developed at the pilot scale to demonstrate in real conditions to end users.
At the origin of the project:
Professor Jacques Lalevée of the Institute of Materials Science of Mulhouse IS2M (UMR 7361 CNRS-UHA)
