ARC
How to simplify percutaneaous access to deep tissues using medical needles
Project description
Medical needles are used increasingly in mini-invasive percutaneous procedures that need insertion into deep human tissues.
They are for instance used for diagnosis by way of biopsies or for treating cancerous lesions.
The ARC technology consists in adding a purely mechanical option to medical needles in order to ease trajectory correction, without increasing their cost significantly.
Why does Conectus invest in this project?
The ARC project aims at demonstrate performances of this new generation of needles.
The project starts with a selection of the best configuration, on criteria both medical and industrial.
It will continue with pre-clinical tests followed by human clinical studies.
At the origin of the project:
Lennart Rubbert of the ICube lab (Université de Strasbourg - CNRS - INSA)
Charles Baur of the INSTANT-LAB (EPFL)
We are also welcoming hospital practicioners of various specialities to accompany this innovative project on medical aspects.
Focus
Conectus invests on this project : 520 000 € (including pre-clinical studies) on 18 months.
Subsequent clinical phase : 12 months.
